Bentley & Co. Limited  

Bentley & Co. Limited was established in 1981 by Jim Bentley.  It is a professional services consultancy specialising in town planning and resource management matters.  The practice has particular experience in providing advice and services relating to consenting and other regulatory processes under the Resource Management Act for major capital projects.  This includes the analysis of district plan objectives, policies and rules in relation to particular development sites and land holdings, the preparation of applications for resource consent and the management of the administrative process, the preparation of plan change applications, the review of proposed plan changes and preparation of submissions, and preparation and presentation of evidence for both Council and Environment Court hearings.

The practice has also worked on smaller projects including planning for schools, network retailing, service stations, restaurants, churches, entertainment facilities, car parking facilities, residential developments, coastal developments, rural development and subdivisions.

The directors of Bentley & Co. are Craig McGarr and Vaughan Smith, and they are supported by four additional professional planning staff and an administrative assistant.  The practice operates from professional offices at Level 1, 18 Shortland Street, Auckland.

Bentley & Co. has a wide client list that includes agencies of government at all levels, corporate and other private sector clients, as well as network utility, institutional and community organisations.  Current clients include the Auckland District Health Board, The University of Auckland, Sea+City Limited, CSR Limited, Mercy Hospital, Dilworth School, Metlifecare Limited, Westfield New Zealand Limited, Foodstuffs (Auckland) Limited, The Warehouse Limited, The Selwyn Foundation, Vector Limited and Fonterra.  In addition, the practice processes resource consent applications on behalf of Auckland City Council.
